Privacy policy

Overview

Vitzik doesn't have accounts or logins — your MIDI files, saved songs, and settings stay in your browser's local storage and never reach our servers. The only data collection on this site is anonymous usage analytics, described below.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how the site is used — for example, which pages are visited, roughly how much traffic we get, and which browsers or devices to support. Google Analytics may collect:

• Pages viewed and how you navigate between them
• Approximate location, derived from your IP address (not stored by us)
• Device, browser, and operating system information
• Referring site or search terms that brought you here

We don't use this data to identify you personally, and we don't combine it with any other information. Google acts as our data processor for this data — see Google's privacy policy and how Google uses data from partner sites.

Cookies & consent

When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Until you accept, Google Analytics only receives anonymous, cookie-less pings that can't be tied to you individually. If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies to recognize repeat visits and measure usage more accurately. You can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site, which will show the banner again.

Data retention

Analytics data is retained according to the data retention period we've configured in our Google Analytics account — it is not kept indefinitely. Aggregated reports (totals and trends, with no data tied to individual visitors) may be kept longer, since they no longer reference any single visitor.

Your rights

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all sites using Google's browser opt-out add-on.

Children's privacy

Vitzik is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
